Look inside Tier 1 and there's a cliff within the cliff: Chase to St. Brown costs you only about 15 points of VOR, but St. Brown to Smith-Njigba costs 44. That's nearly triple the drop, which argues the truly elite band is the top three, not the top six — even though ADP treats picks 3 through 7 as roughly interchangeable.
The value and reach lists also split along a clear line: established possession receivers with proven target shares (Meyers, Kupp, Shakir, Jeudy) show up as values, while high-draft-capital, buzz-driven names (Nabers, Wilson, Reed, Hunter) show up as reaches. That's a model favoring demonstrated usage over draft pedigree and offseason hype — not a verdict on talent, just a signal that role and volume haven't caught up to name recognition yet for the latter group.
CeeDee Lamb is the single clearest illustration of that gap: ADP #11 puts him in first-round conversation, but a VOR of 32.3 lands him at #20, barely inside Tier 4. Market price and projected production have simply drifted apart here, likely on name value carried over from a bigger past season.
Worth remembering: these projections lean on a single prior season's usage and opponent context, so sample size is limited and target shares can shift fast with camp battles or early-season role changes. Treat the tiers as a snapshot, not a fixed hierarchy, and recheck as news breaks.
