Four games in, Week 5 sits at a useful inflection point: there's enough recent usage data to start trusting real trends over preseason draft slot, but still too little to call any single role fully locked in. Treat this week's boards as an early but meaningful correction toward what's actually happening on the field.
The players moving most from their original draft-round expectation are the ones worth watching closest — a receiver who's quietly become a first read, or a back ceding passing-down snaps, tells you more right now than name recognition does. Rankings that chase last week's box score without weighing four weeks of usage risk overreacting to noise.
Opponent strength doesn't hit every position the same way. Running back and wide receiver production can swing hard based on a single matchup, since defenses allocate resources unevenly against the run or specific receivers, while quarterback floors are driven more by overall team passing volume than by who's across from them. Tight end remains the shallowest position of the four, which is why the gap between a true top option and the rest of the top 10 tends to be wider than at receiver or back.
