One live game is the thinnest possible signal for 'recent usage form,' which is why draft projection still carries most of the weight in these Week 2 scores. A single breakout snap count or a quiet opener can swing a player's rank more than it should relative to a true talent read — treat early risers and fallers as provisional, not confirmed trends.
Opponent strength matters more in Week 2 than it will later, simply because there's no multi-week defensive form yet to lean on — early-season defensive rankings are themselves still colored by preseason expectation as much as actual snaps allowed. That cuts both ways: a plus matchup this week says less about a defense's real weaknesses than it will by Week 5 or 6.
Positional volatility differs by role. Backfield committees and receiver rotations that looked settled in Week 1 often reshuffle by Week 2 as coaches react to game film, so RB and WR ranks near the touchdown-heavy but volume-light bottom of the top 10 are the likeliest to move again next week. TE remains the shallowest position, where even a modest usage bump can vault a streaming option several spots up the board.
